Who runs this site
Ideology is run by Roded Konforty, an individual. Contact: roded@macpire.com. Use that address for any privacy request.
What we collect
Your email address and the display name you choose, so you can sign in.
Your answers to each election’s questions. Answers about politics are sensitive information. You give them by choosing to answer, and you can delete them at any time.
Notes you send about a record, and a reviewer’s decision on them. An approved note is public with your display name.
Optional answers about you, such as age band, gender, region, ethnicity, and religion, only if you tick the consent box. These are sensitive information. Ethnicity and religion are especially sensitive, and we collect them only with that explicit consent.
Basic technical logs kept by our service providers for security and to keep the site running.
What we use it for
To show you your picture and how cited documents line up with your answers.
To run the review queue for notes.
Optional answers about you are used only to count, anonymously, how groups of people answered. Any group smaller than 20 people is never reported. They are never shown to anyone as your answers and never change your comparison.
Religion is used only to count how many readers chose each option, and any group smaller than 20 people is never reported. It is never counted together with answers to the election questions, never used to describe any party or candidate, and never shown to anyone as your answer.
What we never do
We do not sell your information, show advertising, or share your answers with any party, candidate, or campaign.
Reviewer panel
Only if you apply to the reviewer panel: an identity-verification provider checks an identity document and a live selfie. The provider keeps the document and the photo under its own terms. We receive whether the check passed and, only at the moment of admission, the document's type, country, and number, which we immediately turn into a one-way fingerprint and never store. We keep only that fingerprint, so the same person cannot take two seats. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into the document.
The site operator assigns each panelist a group on the political spectrum, used only to require support from more than one group. That group, and who is on the panel, are visible only to the operator.
Each vote is recorded and counted with a weight. A decision publishes only the totals for each option and how many groups supported it, never who voted or how. Decisions are signed and logged so they cannot be changed silently.
When a panelist votes, we store a one-way fingerprint of their network address and browser, made with a secret that changes daily. It is used only to spot coordinated voting, the raw address is never stored, and it stays with the seat's votes after the account is deleted.
Any signed-in reader can flag a record for review, up to 10 flags a day. A flag goes to the operator with your account and your reason, and changes no result by itself.
Who else handles it
We use service providers for hosting, for the database, for sending sign-in email, and, for panel applicants only, for identity checks. They process data only to provide those services to us.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. Deleting your account removes your answers in every election, your notes, your flags, any pending panel application, and any answers about you. If you held a panel seat, the seat and its votes, with each vote's network fingerprint, stay under an anonymous seat number with no link to you, so that decisions can still be audited and corrected; the identity fingerprint stays with them so the same person cannot take a new seat. Published panel totals stay, without anyone's name. Reviewer decisions on other people’s notes stay, without your name.
